Mission Statement

To coordinate, develop, improve, and maintain a comprehensive and dynamic emergency medical services system to prevent and reduce premature death and disability. The emergency medical services system will ensure prompt, effective, and unimpeded service to all residents and visitors of the County.

About Iowa County EMS

Iowa County EMS provides paramedic level ambulance services to all 586 square miles of Iowa County. This area comprises large stretches of several major roadways including Interstate 80, US Highway 151, and US Highway 6.

Two paramedic level ambulances are staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week with the ability to staff two additional ambulances during peak call times and for special events. Ambulances are staffed in Marengo and Williamsburg to help lower response times within the county. Iowa County EMS responds to over 1,800 calls annually.

Ambulances are equipped with Advanced Life Support equipment including EKG cardiac monitors, mechanical CPR devices, IV pumps, CPAP devices, etc.

Iowa County has First Responder teams located throughout the county in the Amana Colonies, Ladora, Millersburg, North English, Victor, and Williamsburg. Kinze Manufacturing also has an on site First Responder team that responds to emergencies within their facility. These teams provide basic emergency level care to stabilize patients until the ambulance arrives. Iowa County EMS provides administrative support for all county First Responder teams.

Iowa County EMS also provides services such as CPR and first aid training, safety/injury prevention and education, school career days, and EMS coverage at special events throughout the county.
